Fines between $30 to $500 for eating in train, no warning, just immediate fines?

Scenario 1 ) A guy takes out a bottle of mineral water, it cost, 80¢,+$30=$30.80 mineral water... better hope one of the mineral is some immortal powder.

Scenario 2 ) a baby is hungry, mommy takes out a bottle of milk for the baby to drink, it cost $2 for the milk, and $50 for the fine.... On the bright side, expensive milk always prevents cases like San Lu from happening.

i've read in Today, that even taking of medication, you must seek MRT staff for assistance, if not kenna...
This is really a wth scenario.

if lets say you need to take a panadol for your headach,
means you gotta lift your heavy ass off the mrt seat,
walk down to the control center,
tell the staff you gotta take ONE pill and a sip of water
and then go back up to the platform,
and board the rush hour train. !?

chalk up one for fine idiocracy.
